Information Regarding Upgrading Works on Penang International Airport

To those who is coming to Penang via Penang Internation Airport.

Greetings from Penang Global Tourism!

We would like to inform you of the development and progress of the Penang International Airport. The PIA is undergoing a major upgrade and is expected to be completed by June 2012. In the meantime,

the traffic situation is being managed by Malaysian Airports with the Royal Malaysian Police to minimise traffic congestion.

Currently, vehicles coming into the airport for drop-offs and pick-ups will have to go up the ramp (previously used for departures)

and turn right into the free space provided (refer to map above). Alternatively, vehicles may also use the car park for pick-ups (but will be charged for parking).

And starting from 1 February 2011, the existing departure ramp will be closed and a new traffic flow will be in force.

Vehicles will be using a new road (previously the arrival road on the ground floor) to drop-off and pick-up passengers (refer to above picture).
